Day 7 - The Sabbath

I know I said yesterday was the last one because I might see you girls today, but...

Just in case, anyone checked this for Day 7 thinking this was our last day...

Here you go:

Deuteronomy 5:12
“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.

What does the Sabbath mean to you?

Exodus 20:11
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

I struggle with this in the way that I do not want to be legalistic, but I want to be able to honor God and keep this day Holy.

So many verses talk about keeping it Holy, yet Jesus being the Lord of the Sabbath...not constricted to what man thinks that means:

Exodus 31:13
“Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.

So we need to make it different, but Jesus still did God's work on the Sabbath:

John 9:14
Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.

And in the Old Testament, the inner court was for the high priests, but with Jesus coming and His death on the cross and ressurection on Easter morning,  we can come to Him directly as our high priest.  We can come to the "inner court" anytime to spend time with God:

Ezekiel 46:1
“‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: The gate of the inner court facing east is to be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbathday and on the day of the New Moon it is to be opened.

For our understanding, we need to go back to the beginning:

Exodus 20:11
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

We need to make it Holy.  Holy means "set apart."   Set apart:  Different to show honor to God.  We go to church to worship and fellowship,  we might invite people over to fellowship, we might make family time more intentional.  It is a day to remember who God is, what He has done and honor Him.  In the same way, we need to do that all week long in our actions as well.  But the Sabbath is a day set apart to be Holy.

What do you do to make Sunday special?

Does it look different than any other day?

What can you do today to make this day, the Lord's day more Holy, set apart for Him?

I would love your ideas!

Have an amazing Sabbath!

Like I said, I will post once in a while, but I will be off for a while.  Thanks for this week with Jesus!

I would encourage you to continue to spend time with Jesus...no matter the time!

Thank you again for these times.

Blessings,
Angie
